A war over vegan meat in China is carried into a new stage. Outside of restaurants, retail shelves are becoming the new "battlefield". Following Beyond Meat and Nestlé, local brand STARFIELD also officially announced its first consumer-oriented product series -- Bloom Bao, which is plant-based quick-frozen bread with meat stuffing made of vegetables.
When asked about the future blueprint of new consumer-oriented products, STARFIELD founder & CEO Wu Yanzi said that the company will look more attentively into what scenarios vegan meat can serve and what needs it can meet, and on top of that, it will be lowering the barrier of cooking.
She also revealed that STARFIELD is currently the vegan meat brand with the biggest market share in China. According to the data, the company has teamed up with more than 100 brands, covering a diversity of channels including new-style tea drinks, large fast food chains, traditional food, and chain convenience stores, and moved into 7,000 stores across the country.
